Steve Rushton

Bass Guitar

At the age of 15, Steve wrote and performed one of his songs on the prime-time ITV show Junior Eurovision Song Contest, earning him his first publishing deal. At the age of 17 he was the co-lead singer/bass player of UK pop punk band Son Of Dork. The band had a number three single and their debut album, Welcome To Loserville, went gold. The musical, Loserville, was created around the band’s songs. Steve then, at the age of 20, moved to America after signing a solo recording contract with Disney in Los Angeles. He wrote, performed and produced two songs on the Number One box office/ billboard/worldwide triple platinum album for the Hannah Montana the Movie soundtrack, as well as starring in the movie itself. He has written songs for Disney including Jerry Bruckheimer’s G-Force, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, Santa Buddies, Good Luck Charlie, and the lead song to The Rock’s movie, Race To Witch Mountain. Steve also performed an original song on the nationally televised & star- studded ABC TV Christmas Day Parade in 2009.

Additionally, Steve has written songs for The Jonas Brothers, Aiden Grimshaw, Amelia Lily, as well as further Disney Movies and TV shows, including performing the Theme Tune to Disney’s Suite Life On Deck.

After moving back from Los Angeles in 2010, Steve became a session bass player/guitarist performing on shows such as The X-Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, National Television Awards, and played for pop artists on radio tours and for concerts.

Steve made his theatre debut as Will in Green Day’s American Idiot in London in 2015, for which he won the Broadway World Award for Best Featured Actor in a New Musical. He re-joined the show on its UK tour in 2016 before moving back into the West End. Steve then went on to perform in the Actor/ Musician Footloose Musical as Bickle/Cowboy Bob late 2016. Later that year he went on to play the lead role in Pete Rowe’s Actor/Musician Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto, Sinbad.

Since then Steve has been on tour throughout Europe with the theatre production of The Rod Stewart Story on bass and vocals, and continues to write for Disney and various artists, as well performing in his roaming band The Juke Joints.

As Steve has been writing and performing pop music his whole career, and grown up listening to ABBA, he is very excited to be involved in this show and can’t wait to play the bands iconic pop songs every night.
